You do not need to choose a permanent winner.

ChatGPT and Claude are both capable general-purpose AI tools. Their features, model names, plan limits, and interfaces change. A benchmark winner today may not be the better tool for your actual work next month.

The reliable decision is task-first: choose one useful outcome, run the same low-risk task in both free versions when possible, inspect the results, and keep the tool you will use.
