Written by Brandon Peddle, founder of Tempered Edge, an AI automation agency in Edmonton. Prices, model names, settings paths, and every link in both guides were checked against Anthropic's and OpenAI's own pages on 16 July 2026. What each plan includes was not re-checked feature by feature, so where your screen and the guide disagree, the live pricing page wins. The guides say the same thing on their own first page.
The problem

Why the updates matter
A guide written last year is worse than no guide.
These tools move constantly. Between one edition and the next you can expect:
- Model names change, and the one you were told to use is gone
- Pricing and plan tiers get reshuffled
- Settings menus move, so the privacy toggle you turned off last spring is somewhere else now

Is this a subscription?
No. It's $49 CAD plus tax once, and you're never billed again. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel.
Why is there tax on top?
Tempered Edge Technologies Inc. is a registered GST/HST business, so Canadian buyers are charged the tax that applies to their province at checkout. Stripe calculates it and shows you the total before you pay.
I already pay for Claude or ChatGPT. Is this replacing that?
No. This is about using what you already pay for. You keep your existing subscription. The guides make sure you're getting your money's worth out of it, and the plan section tells you if you're on the wrong tier.
Do I need to be technical?
No. That's the whole point. Both guides are written for people with no tech background, in plain English, with a glossary at the back for any term that sneaks through.
Can I see the writing before I buy?
Yes. A full section, the privacy and data defaults section, is published free at the preview page. It is the same section paying readers get, not a trimmed sample.
What do the updates actually mean?
When the products move, I go through both guides against the live apps, re-check every deep link, setting, model name, and price, then update anything that changed and add anything new worth knowing. The new edition goes up at the same access link you already have, so you revisit your link and the current edition is there. No extra charge. What you are promised is the editions, not a calendar: I am not going to commit to a fixed schedule and then miss it, and the terms say the same. The record so far is four versions of each guide since June 2026, all dated and listed on the changelog, which is the place to check what is current.
What if it doesn't help me?
